Bayside's Ministries

Congregational Care Ministry
Purpose:

Congregational Care is the Ministry that oversees the nurture, care, support and fellowship of the congregation.  As a church family we meet the charge expressed in our Mission Statement to "provide a supportive, loving, and caring ministry to and with one another."

Activities and Programs:

This mission is carried out through many different ongoing programs, including:

Nurturing – Meals, transportation and childcare are provided when required for those experiencing an unexpected emergency, those who are disabled, or who are in a crisis situation. Referrals are made to the pastors for visitation of the sick, shut-in and grieving.

Correspondence – Cards, notes, and phone calls are used to remind members and friends, who may be sick, shut-in or grieving, that their church family is praying for them.

Prayer chain – Verbal requests, emailed requests, and requests from forms in the pew racks are responded to through the power of corporate prayer.

Fellowship – We support the development and continuation of many activities: such as:

  • Church Dinners - Support the coordination throughout the year, assisting any group who would like to sponsor a “pot luck” or other type of social gathering..
  • Bayside Buddies - a fellowship group for “older adults” and friends who develop their own programs of interest and usually combine them with a pot luck luncheon.  Fun and interesting.
  • Presbyterian Women– The women in the congregation meet monthly in small groups, or Circles, to study God’s word, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Christians, and much more.
  • Presbyterian Men – The men in the congregation meet every other Saturday morning for fellowship, Bible study, breakfast and more.
Scouting :  We liaison with and provide support as required to the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop which are chartered by our church.

Pictorial Directory:  We coordinate the development of a church-wide pictorial directory and in maintaining an up-to-date online directory.

Current Projects:

In addition to the above, other projects include:

  • Development of a small business and hobby directory, internal to the church membership, with the goal of connecting members of the congregation through services needed and provided.
  • Providing the congregation with small gifts at Mother's Day and Father's Day to celebrate these special events and these special people in our church.
  • Development of a “Care Team” that will provide regular contact to every family in the church.

How Can I Get Involved?

Contact any member of the ministry if you want to become a part of exploring and planning how the membership of Bayside can better care for our church family.  We’d love to have you!!

(And we’re always looking for those who have the time and talents to carry out those plans!)
